JNEC was established in 1983 under the aegis of Mahatma Gandhi Mission Trust lead by Chairman Kamalkishor Kadam having got his Engineering Education from IIT Mumbai. He had also been education minister of Maharashtra.
The Foundation Stone of existing JNEC building was laid through the hands Hon Shri Sharad Pawar, then the Chief Minister, of Maharashtra on Nov 14,1985.

JNEC Silver Jubilee On the occassion of Silver Jubilee year of JNEC, a lecture series on Gandhian Thoughts was organized on 10th, 11th and 12th of Nov'2008 at Einstein Hall. Main speaker on the topic was Mr. Mark Linley, a Gandhian Follower from U.S.A. The lecture series received overwhelming response.
