JNEC was established in 1983 under the aegis of Mahatma Gandhi Mission Trust lead by Chairman Kamalkishor Kadam having got his Engineering Education from IIT Mumbai. He had also been education minister of Maharashtra.
The Foundation Stone of existing JNEC building was laid through the hands Hon Shri Sharad Pawar, then the Chief Minister, of Maharashtra on Nov 14,1985.

JNEC campus is full of green, shady trees and is having the comfortable sitting arrangement under these trees which naturally creates and promotes studious environment.
JNEC students are well self disciplined and they spend number of hours in library having sitting capacity of 400 which is always full during the peak of the semester and during examination period.
