BMW is German multinational company known for its luxurious vehicles and automobile enthusiast needs no more introduction of BMW, whereas MSC Software is American multinational company known for its simulation software and industrial designers needs no introduction of MSC Software. What does this two giants have common in Aurangabad?
BMW and MSC Software have selected city of Aurangabad as abode of their skilling initiatives and Jawaharlal Nehru Engineering College (JNEC), a constituent college of MGM University, Aurangabad has a vital role to play here.
“Skill Next" is a technical skilling initiative of BMW launched on the occasion of 11th anniversary of BMW Chennai facility by famous Indian cricket player and Bharatratna awardee Mr. Sachin Tendulkar. BMW had invited proposals from technical institutes all over India for receiving state of the art BMW engine with transmission system. On the basis of availability of research & infrastructural facilities and other criteria, BMW has selected Jawaharlal Nehru Engineering College as one of the 365 colleges in India to handover this engine, thus making JNEC only institute in Marathwada region to offer technical training on advanced automotive technologies through BMW system. Under the Skill Next initiative, JNEC lab is now equipped with BMW Twin Power Turbo, Inline 4 cylinder diesel engine, with eight speeds, Steptronic, automatic transmission gearbox.
To bridge the gap between academia and industry requirements, BMW has drawn up a pathway through this program for students where in addition to the theoretical knowledge, the aspiring engineers and youngsters will have a unique opportunity for practical training as well. In MGM University, training module has been designed by professional trainers in association with BMW Group Plant Chennai. This training will be a combination of classroom and hands-on practical sessions remarkably helping students to gain technical knowledge with foremost practical insights.
MSC Software has established India’s First Technology Excellence Center at campus of MGM University, Aurangabad. MSC Software is a part of Hexagon, one of the ten OEM in software companies. MSC Software is a global leader in simulation software technology helping product developers & manufacturers to augment their engineering methods.
Simulation software technology developed by MSC Software helps the designers in validation and optimization of designs through virtual prototypes. Generally in process of product design, traditional approach of “build and test” physical prototype is followed, which demands more time, cost and efforts. Customers in almost every part of manufacturing can use MSC software to complement or sometimes replace the physical prototypes with virtual counterparts.
At Innovation, Incubation & Research Centre (IIRC) of MGM University, various MSC software modules are made available for training, which have wide application in industries also. MSC Simufact is an industry leader in providing simulation solutions for all of the metal manufacturers. These include metal Forming, Mechanical and Thermal joining operations, and Additive Manufacturing (AM) processes. Simufact products solutions can optimize these manufacturing processes by reducing costs and time to market.MSC Nastran is multidisciplinary structural analysis software used by engineers to perform static, dynamic, and thermal analysis across the linear and nonlinear domains, complemented with automated structural optimization and award winning embedded fatigue analysis technologies. Adams is Multi-body Dynamics Simulation software that enabling the study of dynamics of moving parts, and how loads and forces are distributed throughout systems.
An advanced driver-assistance system (ADAS) by MSC Software is electronic system that assists drivers in driving, parking and many other practical functions. Through a safe Machine-Human interface, ADAS can increase car and road safety. ADAS systems use automated technology, such as sensors and cameras with a simulator to detect nearby obstacles or driving errors, and counter it accordingly. Courses based on ADAS have been offered under the choice based curriculum of MGM University.
In association with MSC & Aviocian Technologies, an advance drone manufacturing & simulation lab is established in IIRC. With this exclusive Drone Pilot training certification course, students will be able work on the drones having transportation applications in agriculture, infrastructure, plant inspection, wind energy, solar plant, surveillance, media and entertainment fields.
City of Aurangabad touted as tourism capital of Maharashtra state will have new identity as a preferred industrial destination owing to widespread availability trained, skilled and effectual manpower in the field of manufacturing and JNEC entrusted itself to contribute for making it a reality sooner rather than later.
